The author is responsible for the Localisation within RESOLV. This page is a catalogue to the documentation available on the subject.

RESOLV papers and on-line presentations

This page links to the on-line presentations I have prepared for RESOLV. The two earlier ones are associated with the papers presented in two international conferences. The April'99 presentation was produced to a national conference.

The presentations are organised as slide sequences. Just follow the arrows or the context links where available. Since the presentations cover related subjects in different depth, several slides are repeated across them. Please read the notes to find out the differences between the scope and the depth of the presentations.

Whenever the presentations are supported on a paper, it is also available for download, should you require more in-depth information.

Title, description Language
April 1999
Conference: V Jornadas Científico-Tecnológicas de Engenharia Electrotécnica e Electrónica. Escola Superior Tecnologia, Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal.
Paper: Apresentação do projecto RESOLV: da Robótica à Realidade Virtual.
(read HTML file, download PDF file or compressed PostScript file)
Notes: This presentation introduces RESOLV in layman terms, such as for the press or non-graduated students.  Netscape Communicator 4 or MS Internet Explorer 4 or later recommended.

Best suited for live presentations by RESOLV partners, to fill in the required information.  Netscape Communicator 4 or MS Internet Explorer 4 or later required.
September 1998
Conference: 3rd Portuguese Conference on Automatic Control, Controlo 98, Coimbra, Portugal
Paper: Localisation of a mobile robot using a laser scanner on reconstructed 3D models
(download PDF file or compressed PostScript file)
Notes: Detailed description of one algorithm in Localisation for RESOLV. Based on a 6 page technical paper. Netscape Communicator 4 or MS Internet Explorer 4 or later recommended.
July 1998
Conference: 6th International Symposium on Intelligent Robotic Systems, SIRS'98, Edinburgh, Scotland UK.
Paper: A Multi-Layer Robot Localisation Solution using a Laser Scanner on Reconstructed 3D Models
(download PDF file or compressed PostScript file)
Notes: Presentation of the complete solution for Localisation in RESOLV. Based on a 10 page technical paper.  Netscape Communicator 4 or MS Internet Explorer 4 or later recommended.
